Below is the part of a weekly series of benchmarks provided by the team at Cannabis Benchmarks®.

This week’s CCSI report examines the number of cannabis users by Province.
Data on Canadian cannabis usage from Statistics Canada shows that the number of users trended upward from the beginning of legal recreational sales in Q4 2018 through 2019.
Cannabis Benchmarks anticipates that usage will continue to increase in 2020 – and at a greater rate, on average, than it did in 2019 – due to more widely available cannabis 2.0 products and more retail locations.
While StatsCan usage data does not distinguish whether cannabis was purchased legally or illegally, we have argued that the legal market will be the main beneficiary of more widespread cannabis use, due partly to changes in purchasing habits motivated by COVID-19.
