THE Cannabis Trades Association has appointed Marika Graham-Woods as its new joint Executive Director sharing that title with current incumbent Siân Phillips.
The duo say their goal is to build upon the changes already underway at the CTA.
Ms Graham-Woods said: “I was elected to my role at the end of November. I realise people want to know more about how the CTA is a changed organisation to that of the past.
“Over the last year we have become an outward looking organisation which exists to support our members, and their businesses by opening up the Hemp and Cannabis Markets in the UK, EU and further afield.
“The UK markets are set to open rapidly with legislative changes during 2022. The CTA is at the centre of these changes helping to remove the legal barriers to hemp and cannabis markets and enact legislative change.”
She went on to highlight the three core strategies of the CTA as centring around; CBD, Medicinal Cannabis and Industrial Hemp and related markets
She added: “We lobby Parliament directly. We actively work to remove legislative barriers to our members trading in hemp and cannabis legally. We promote ours and our members businesses activity and support our members to enable them to operate within legal boundaries.
“The CTA has stakeholder status with a Primary Authority Partnership with Trading Standards, and the MHRA and FSA (Novel Foods). We are also founding members of the BSI Technical Group, and the CIC Cannabis Industry Council.
“We work with VMD and many other standards agencies, and technical bodies both in the UK, EU and abroad.
“We have regular friendly active dialogue with EIHA and other Hemp, Vape and Cannabis-related Trades organisations in the UK and EU. We recognise that exchange of ideas, government policy decisions and having a united front between us will help all of our members whether in the UK, EU, or beyond.”
The CTA’s AGM will be on Friday August 19, 2022 at National Agricultural Exhibition Centre Stoneleigh Park Kenilworth CV8 2LZ Warwickshire England as part of the Product Earth Exhibition.
